Wonderful word of the week #17

Coquettish  adj flirty. from the french coquette  meaning ‘wanton female’.

This weeks lovely word is courtesy of Stewart lee’s wonderful book. ‘How i escaped my certain fate.’

“What a great word ‘coquettish is. I wish i could claim to have thought of using it myself, but i think i have leeched it from Richard Herring, whom i seem to remember using the word in and unexpected context in one of his shows, and who has a great feel for the untapped comic value of such unusual words, as befits a man who spent most of the nineties playing Scrabble against himself and weeping.”
