Wonderful word of the week #47

Puttock  (sometimes putlog) the flattened end of a piece scaffolding which is inserted into the building. Putlog holes are clearly visible on many old buildings, see Norwich Cathedral spire for example, as well as newer structures though the holes are usually filled by pointing.
